Year End Message: December 31st
Stand Out: We are Christians
Exodus 8:23 (NLT) I will make a clear distinction between my people and your people. This miraculous sign will happen tomorrow.’ ”
When we began this year on the Hebrew Calendar it was 5777. Triple Sevens! The Hebrews would call the year Ayin Zayin. I found myself in the book of Joshua. The Lord led me to Joshua 6:4–5 (NLT) Seven priests will walk ahead of the Ark, each carrying a ram’s horn. On the seventh day you are to march around the town seven times, with the priests blowing the horns. 5 When you hear the priests give one long blast on the rams’ horns, have all the people shout as loud as they can. Then the walls of the town will collapse, and the people can charge straight into the town.”
Ayin representing the 16th letter of the Hebrew alphabet and having the numeric value of seventy. The letter also symbolizes eyes to see.
Zayin is the seventh letter and while it represents fullness, spirit, finish, rest etc.
It was its symbol that stood out to me the most. It represents a sword that is used to bring distinction. Most prominently in the New Testament, the sword of the spirit. The
Spiritual Sword- Hebrews 4:12 (KJV) For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
In a world that struggles to find its identity We knew this would be a year to Stand Out in our Christianity. Joshua 6:27 (NLT) So the Lord was with Joshua, and his reputation spread throughout the land.
A Year to Step Up- Exodus 12:36 (NLT) The Lord caused the Egyptians to look favorably on the Israelites, and they gave the Israelites whatever they asked for. So they stripped the Egyptians of their wealth!
Exodus 35:4–5 (NLT) Then Moses said to the whole community of Israel, “This is what the Lord has commanded: 5 Take a sacred offering for the Lord. Let those with generous hearts present the following gifts to the Lord: gold, silver, and bronze;
Exodus 36:6–7 (NLT) So Moses gave the command, and this message was sent throughout the camp: “Men and women, don’t prepare any more gifts for the sanctuary. We have enough!” So the people stopped bringing their sacred offerings. 7 Their contributions were more than enough to complete the whole project.
Giving Changes Lives- Matthew 5:14 (NLT) “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
Exodus 13:19 (NLT) Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for Joseph had made the sons of Israel swear to do this. He said, “God will certainly come to help you. When he does, you must take my bones with you from this place.”
A Year to Realign- Joshua 1:2 (NLT) “Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people, the Israelites, across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them.
Filled Series helping our ability to relate to and understand the language of God and His purpose for our lives is through Holy Spirit–
Acts 1:8 (KJV) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Our ability to connect to God’s people in our gifts- 1 Corinthians 12:28–31 (NLT) Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church: first are apostles, second are prophets, third are teachers, then those who do miracles, those who have the gift of healing, those who can help others, those who have the gift of leadership, those who speak in unknown languages. 29 Are we all apostles? Are we all prophets? Are we all teachers? Do we all have the power to do miracles? 30 Do we all have the gift of healing? Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages? Do we all have the ability to interpret unknown languages? Of course not! 31 So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts. But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.
Your Gifts Makes Room- Proverbs 18:16 (KJV) A man’s gift maketh room for him, And bringeth him before great men.
A Year to Break Religious Patterns- Joshua 3:2–4 (NLT) Three days later the Israelite officers went through the camp, 3 giving these instructions to the people: “When you see the Levitical priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord your God, move out from your positions and follow them. 4 Since you have never traveled this way before, they will guide you. Stay about a half mile behind them, keeping a clear distance between you and the Ark. Make sure you don’t come any closer.”
The Journey: The Movement turned Monument- Joel 2:15–17 (KJV) Blow the trumpet in Zion, Sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly: 16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, Gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: Let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet. 17 Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar, And let them say, Spare thy people, O Lord, And give not thine heritage to reproach,That the heathen should rule over them: Wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
The Restoration- Joel 2:23–25 (NLT) Rejoice, you people of Jerusalem! Rejoice in the Lord your God! For the rain he sends demonstrates his faithfulness. Once more the autumn rains will come, as well as the rains of spring. 24 The threshing floors will again be piled high with grain, and the presses will overflow with new wine and olive oil. 25 The Lord says, “I will give you back what you lost to the swarming locusts, the hopping locusts, the stripping locusts, and the cutting locusts. It was I who sent this great destroying army against you.
A Year to Pray- Joshua 5:14–15 (NLT) “Neither one,” he replied. “I am the commander of the Lord’s army.” At this, Joshua fell with his face to the ground in reverence. “I am at your command,” Joshua said. “What do you want your servant to do?” 15 The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did as he was told.
Lord Teach Us to Pray- Luke 11:1 (NLT) Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
You Are Christian- Acts 11:26 (NLT) When he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. Both of them stayed there with the church for a full year, teaching large crowds of people. (It was at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians.)
Standing Out is Never More Evident than when we’re reaching people- This we have to Own IT!
Make Disciples, Release Ministers- Matthew 28:19–20 (NLT) Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Abraham, Moses and Joshua we’re all part of Gods plan to free people from slavery, teach them how to live in relationship with God and lead them into the promise land.
