Because People Matter.

This is Us – Part Four

This Is Us: Serving (Do something)

Acts 2:42–47 (NLT) All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. 43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

As a Pastor my first responsibility is to discern Gods voice and direction for which I’m called to serve. Secondly it is to teach and direct those who are on the journey with me.

There are many differing types of presentations that we communicate.

  1. Teach

  2. Preach/Exhort

  3. Prophecy

I called my kids this week. I spoke to the staff, I called family- Now I’m telling you. Something, I believe very significant is taking place in the spirit.

For Signs and Season- Genesis 1:14–16 (KJV)  And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

Psalm 19:1–4 (NLT) The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.

Follow the Stars- Matthew 2:1–2 (NLT) Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”

Numbers 24:17 (NLT)  I see him, but not here and now. I perceive him, but far in the distant future. A star will rise from Jacob; a scepter will emerge from Israel. It will crush the heads of Moab’s people, cracking the skulls of the people of Sheth.

Lunar Eclipses: Blood Moons- The April 15, 2014 and April 4, 2015 Total Lunar Eclipses occurred at the same time as Passover, while the October 8, 2014 and September 28, 2015 eclipses occurred during the Feast of Tabernacle.

You may say why do we care and what’s the big deal? Joel 2:31 (NLT) The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red before that great and terrible day of the Lord arrives. (Ref. Acts 2:20, Rev 6:12)

Solar Eclipse- August 21st a full solar eclipse captured the attention of our nation. In seven years will have another one.

The Gospel in the Stars- Revelation 12:1–2 (NLT) Then I witnessed in heaven an event of great significance. I saw a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon beneath her feet, and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant, and she cried out because of her labor pains and the agony of giving birth.

Timing is Everything- Deuteronomy 16:16 (NLT)  “Each year every man in Israel must celebrate these three festivals: the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Harvest, and the Festival of Shelters. On each of these occasions, all men must appear before the Lord your God at the place he chooses, but they must not appear before the Lord without a gift for him.

Seven Feast in Three-

  1. Feast of Unleavend Bread

  2. Feast of Passover

  3. Feast of First Fruits

  4. Feast of Pentecost

  5. Feat of Trumpets

  6. Day of Atonement

  7. Feast of Tabernacles

As with the lunar eclipse of 2014-15 The April 15, 2014 and April 4, 2015 Total Lunar Eclipses occurred at the same time as Passover, while the October 8, 2014 and September 28, 2015 eclipses occurred during the Feast of Tabernacle.

The Eclipse on August 21st 40 days prior to Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur). Yom Kippur is September 29-30

Jesus will return but no one knows- Mark 13:32–33 (NLT)  “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. 33 And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!

Jesus will return one day and there will be signs- Matthew 24:3–8 (NLT) Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?” Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.

In Heaven- Matthew 24:30 (NLT) And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Last Trump- 1 Corinthians 15:51–52 (KJV) Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

What am I Saying? Jesus is coming! I don’t know when but the spiritual activity is very high.

What should you do? Serve!

I want to be like Jesus! The easiest way to be like Jesus- Serving

There is no greater servant in the world than Christ Himself- Matthew 20:25–28 (NLT) But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. 26 But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. 28 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

  1. Servant is not about Position- Position is gained through serving not appointment.

  1. First Place goes to most aggressive servant- Using the word slave takes it to another level.

  1. Serving is Sacrificial- Its surrendering your life.

Discovery of Greatness- Matthew 23:11 (NLT) The greatest among you must be a servant.

The Consequence: A Growing Church- Acts 2:47 (NLT) all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

John 12:25–26 (NLT) Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity. 26 Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.

Why do we Serve? Because People Matter!

People Matter to God- How do we know? He sent Jesus to serve our needs of a sacrifice.
