Take the Lead

“Your leader will break out and lead you out of exile, out through the gates of the enemy cities, back to your own land. Your king will lead you; the Lord himself will guide you” Micah 2:13 (NLT).

The New Year comes with the offer of a fresh start. It’s a time to move past what could have been and what should have been to new hopes and dreams. 2017 offered us an opportunity to “Stand Out” in our Christian faith. While this world stands in both the cross hairs of the enemy’s plans and the crisis concerning our own identity – the responsibility falls on the church to “Take the Lead.” In 2018 we are declaring we’re “Taking the Lead: From the Inside Out.”

The walls of our failed experiences, insecurities in our own abilities, uncertainties about the future, and unwillingness to take a risk will be swallowed up in our faith, zeal, and strategic determination to reach the world around us! At The Tabernacle Church we focus on four primary areas: we seek to create an Experience with God, Connect with community, Discover our purpose, and Serve others. This year, we expand our focus from the four walls of our church – to our city and community. We will experience his grace in new ways, connect with new faces in unlikely places, discover a greater purpose for our lives, while serving the needs of our community without bias or disposition.

Our call to action scripture speaks to who and this scripture speaks to our target- “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you” James 1:27 (NLT). There are three areas we must target within our community:

1. Seniors– We cannot forget those who have gone before us. We want to give honor where honor is due.

2. Single Parents– Sometimes little things can make big differences in the family life. None more than a single parent balancing family, career and economic responsibility.

3. Kids-The family breakdown in our communities is shouting for us to stand in the gap. The foster care system is being over ran with children who need help.

To start off the new year we have called 18 Days of Focused Prayer and Fasting. This will be a 6AM-6PM liquid fast from January 1-18, 2018. As you engage, God will respond. You can do this and He will help you all the way.
